Global L-Alanine increased from 14,518 tons in 2012 to 20,303 tons in 2017, with a compound growth rate of 20.13%


First, L-Alanine is a nonessential α-amino acid and which is a white crystalline solid or powder without odour, which can be mainly used in food industry and pharmaceutical industry. With the development of economy, L-Alanine has huge market potential in the future.

Second, L-Aspartic acid and glucose is the main raw material for the production of L-Alanine. Most L-Alanine manufacturers obtain raw material by themselves and some companies need to buy from other companies. With the development of L-Alanine, raw materials’ manufacturers are also benefited from the L-Alanine industry in some extent.

Third, the manufacturers are concentrated in China, which accounted for 97.07% share in 2017. Huaheng is the largest manufacturer in the global, which production has reached 16247 MT in2017. Ajinomoto, Evonik and Kyowa Hakko are the pharmaceutical grade product leaders and they all have plants in china.

Fourth, The L-Alanine increased to 30239 MT in 2017 from 14518 2012, at a CARG of 20.13%. This is because dramatic increase in production of Huaheng, while some small scale manufacturers quit the market in 2015.

Fifth, the consumption of L-Alanine is mainly China, USA and Europe. China is the largest consumer in the global. It need export a lot outside.

Sixth, this industry is affected by the economy and policy, so it’s important to put an eye to economic indexes and leaders’ prefer. With the global economic recovery, more and more people pay attention to rising environment standards, this will cause a certain pressure to the industry.

Seventh, owing to the increasing of demand in L-Alanine downstream products, the world L-Alanine capacity will continue to expand.
