EML (Electro-absorption Modulated Laser) is an integrated optoelectronic device that combines a distributed feedback (DFB) laser with an electro-absorption modulator (EAM) on the same III-V semiconductor chip, enabling high-speed direct electrical modulation of optical signals with low chirp, high extinction ratio, and stable wavelength performance, widely used in medium-to-long-reach optical communication systems requiring high bandwidth and signal integrity.
